I’ve been playing disc golf for a VERY long time. I started playing EXTREMELY recreationally in 2004 when my roommates and I decided to go give it a shot…So recreationally that as long as we just got close to the basket, we called it good – lol. I moved from Boise ID to Amarillo TX and kept playing recreationally but took a break when I became a mom. Still took my kiddo out on the course in his stroller, but only competed in a few tournaments while I was there. It wasn’t until I moved back to Boise in 2014 and found the Boise Women’s Disc Golf League that I started becoming REALLY passionate about the game. I felt such connection and camaraderie between these ladies that it was just inspiring. And watching how great our pros played made me want to become a better player. I love the competition and the will to strive and thrive in this sport. I love how this can be considered a family sport in that anyone can do it, young or old. I love how our women’s league has grown over the past few years; from about 8 girls to 30 + I hope to see this continue. What I love THE MOST though, is traveling and finding all of the wonderful people that enjoy the same activity that I do.
I have won my fair share of tournaments. A big achievement was my first win at the 2016 Ice Bowl held at Lake Walcott in Rupert, ID. I actually had a field to compete in and I took first place with a playoff out of aprox 8 women. I had always just “won” years prior because I was the only one competing. This was a great first win. My greatest achievement however, has been helping in growing the women’s side of things in Boise, ID with our Ladies League. I’m so proud of watching the growth, not only in numbers, but in everyone’s skill levels as well.
